General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS) chaired a video-conference on the implementation of national population database and e-ID projects with the participation of leaders of the provincial-level police department of 10 major cities and provinces on March 1.

The event also saw the presence of deputy ministers, leaders of relevant under-ministerial public security agencies and provincial police of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Bac Ninh.

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam emphasized that the MPS has planned to issue 50 million new e-ID cards for people aged from 14 by July 1, 2021.

The 10 major, populous cities and provinces must mobilize all resources to implement effectively the two projects, especially the issuance of new e-ID cards, Minister To Lam asked. The MPS has also determined, half of the residents aged 14 and above in these 10 cities and provinces will have new e-ID cards by April 30, 2021.

At the meeting, delegates discussed approaches to effectively implementing the projects ahead of the deadline.

To conclude the conference, Minister To Lam underlined that the entire Public Security Forces should work together and save as much money as possible for the State.

He asked local police to draw up specific plans suitable for each locality and each group of population.
