72th National Public Security Conference opens in Hanoi

PSNews – The 72th National Public Security Conference on December 26 was started in Hanoi to review the outcomes of the task performance of the Public Security Forces in 2016, and roll out the forces’ key tasks in 2017.

The event was attended and directed by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.

Delegates attending the conference included leaders, former leaders of the Ministry of Public Security; representatives of the general departments and units of the Public Security Forces.

The event also saw the presence of representatives of the Party Central Committee and leaders of ministries, branches, central and local authorities.

The country in 2016 has obtained many important achievements in international integration, such as joining the building of the ASEAN Community and adopting new FTAs, including the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement; and succeeded in conducting the election of deputies to the 14thNational Assembly and People's Council at all levels.

2016 was also the first year to begin the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress and the 2016-2021 Socio-Economic Development Plan. Additionally, many new laws that are related to the public security forces’ tasks in protecting national security and maintaining social safety have come into effect.

In 2017, the international and regional context is forecast to remain complex, requiring the public security forces to continue strengthening their abilities in order to maintain absolute safety and order for the nation, and to create a peaceful environment for national –socio-economic development and international integration of the country.

In the spirit of innovation and in a practical and effective manner, the conference has been expected to focus discussion on specific guidelines, policies and solutions to ensuring national security and social order, serving the country’s socio-economic development, foreign affairs and international integration. 

The conference has also planned to discuss measures to enhance the forces’ financial resources, logistics, techniques, and Party building as well as to build clean and strong Public Security Forces.

Measures to improve the effectiveness in preventing and combating crimes and law offences are also high on agenda.
