PSNews – Over only the past 10 days since establishment, the Police Unit 911 of the Da Nang Municipal Police Department has discovered and handled nearly 250 cases of traffic violations and other violations of security and order.
Senior Colonel Le Ngoc Hai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Municipal Police Department, said that the police unit was established under the Plan No.911, constituted of various police forces, and led by the Director of the City Police.
The unit is in charge of patrolling and secretly monitoring security-complex areas around the clock, maintaining law and order and handling traffic violations on roads, preventing and fighting street crimes such as robbery and drug trafficking, and stamping out such crimes as usury, violence and social disturbances.
Since its establishment (December 28th 2018), the 911 Unit has discovered 244 cases with a large majority of traffic violations. The unit also detected and handled 10 cases of illegal possession of weapons and illegal use of drugs.
When performing tasks, officers of the 911 Unit disguise themselves as normal citizens to easily detect acts of traffic violation and suspects, and promptly report to the commander to handle.
According to Major Colonel Le Cao Duy Hung, officer at the Criminal Police Division of the Da Nang Police Department, who is leading the 911 Unit, police officers and soldiers of the Criminal Police Division often coordinate with the Investigation Police Division on Drug-related Crimes and Mobile Police Force to prevent and suppress those who violently oppose on-duty policemen.
In addition, a system with nearly 1.900 monitoring cameras installed around the city will also provide images as evidence of violations, helping relevant police units to handle the cases.
The establishment and operation of the 911 Unit is highly appreciated by local people and visitors. All hope that the 911 Unit would strive to promote the strong will, bravery and wisdom of the People’s Police Force, contributing to the “To serve the people’’ tradition of the People’s Public Security Forces.
