Can Tho steps up traffic safety measures in the buildup to Tet holiday

PSNews – The Can Tho Police on December 13 held a meeting to kick off a plan to maintain traffic safety and social order during the upcoming Tet holiday.

At the meeting, Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Thuan, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Municipal Police said his unit has strictly implemented the directions and instructions by the Government, the Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Ministry of Public Security to launch a peak drive on maintaining traffic safety and social order during the Tet holiday.

Accordingly, the traffic police force and other relevant forces under the Can Tho Police are deploying all necessary measures to maintain social order and traffic safety in the remaining months of 2016 and during the Lunar New Year of 2017.

The forces will resolutely deal with offences of the traffic law in an effort to minimize the number of casualties in traffic accidents and promptly prevent and handle illegal motor-races.

The traffic police force will also reinforce the fight against crimes, such as illegal trade and transportation of firecrackers, weapons, explosives, support tools, contraband and forbidden goods as well as other kinds of law violation.
