Da Nang police actively fight against illegal motor-races

PSNews – Recently, as the social distancing restrictions have been eased in Da Nang City, many youngsters gathered for illegal motor races, causing social disorder. The Da Nang Municipal Police Department has mobilized forces to prevent and fight against illegal motor-races on streets to ensure peaceful life for local people. 

As from 9.30 pm on April 25, a police checkpoint was set up in front of September 2 Square in Da Nang City to handle traffic safety violations.

At 9.50 pm, Major Ho Thanh Hien, captain of the on-duty police group received information about a group of youngsters driving motorbikes at high speeds.

10 minutes later, the group detected 4 motorbikes roaring toward September 2 square. The traffic police officers signaled to stop the vehicles but the drivers drove away at a high speed.

One runaway motorbike intentionally hit the police pursuit formation but the driver was captured by the police officers.  

Shortly after the case, 3 other suspects and their vehicles were also arrested. 

By 5 am on April 26, the police group has handled 16 cases of motorbikes and cars violating traffic safety regulations, and they temporarily seized 16 vehicles.

The violations included drink-driving, disobedience of policemen’s orders, illegal motorbike-racing, driving without license. Among 16 violated cases, 7 cases are local youngsters who born after 2000. 

 According to Senior Colonel Phan Ngoc Truyen, Head of the Da Nang Traffic Police Division, on-duty traffic police officers and soldiers along with functional forces stay on the alert, have sufficient means and supporting tools to actively ensure security and order and traffic safety, at the same time they also prevent illegal motor-races.
