Department of External Security holds 1st Party Congress

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered a speech at the 1st Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term of the Department of External Security under the Ministry of Public Security on August 6.

The draft political report at the Congress read that, in the 2015 – 2018 period, the department’s Party organization advised leaders of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of Public Security to issue important guidelines and strategies on safeguarding the national security and sovereignty as well as ensuring the national interests. 

It also led the department to well perform unexpected and urgent missions assigned by the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership.

At the Congress, delegates elected the Party Executive Committee for the term of 2020-2025 and a delegation to attend the 7th Public Security Central Party Committee.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam expressed his consensus with the working orientations and missions for the Party organization in the next term. Furthermore, he asked the department’s Party organization to follow resolutions and instructions of its upper-level Party committees on the tasks of safeguarding the national security and maintain social order and safety.

Regarding its professional missions, the Deputy Minister asked the Party organization to closely observe and forecast security situations in the Southeast Asian region and the world in order to give strategic advice to the Party, the State and the Ministry of Public Security on external relations and cooperation on security.

It should also promote effective international security cooperation mechanisms and closely coordinate with units and agencies inside and outside the Public Security Forces to fight plots and acts of sabotage by the hostile forces in the new situation.
