Department of Homeland Security reviews task performance in first half of 2020
Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended a meeting hosted by the Department of Homeland Security under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS)on June 2 to review its task performance in the first half of 2020.

Over the past six months, the Department of Homeland Security strictly followed the resolutions and directives of the MPS in performing their key tasks. They also actively advised leaders of the Party, the State, the Public Security Central Party Committee, and the MPS to issue guidelines and solutions to issues related to homeland security, as well as measures to prevent and fight sabotage activities by hostile and reactionary forces.

The department also paid due attention to Party and force building work while ensuring logistic supplies for its operation. It also streamlined its organizational structure for more effectiveness and efficiency in line with the MPS’s policies.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang recognized and praised the achievements and efforts made by the Department of Homeland Security over the past time.

Regarding its missions in the time to come, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang requested the Department of Homeland Security to attach much importance to fighting and suppressing hostile forces and reactionaries’ attempts to infringe upon national security while improving the effectiveness of State management over national security in the fields of religion and ethnicity, and strengthening counter-terrorism mechanisms.
The department was requested tighten discipline and seriously observe working regulations. It should also pay due attention to training and capacity building for its officers and soldiers, helping them meet the requirements of their missions in the new situation.
