Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son pays working visit to Can Tho City

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security on December 8 held a conference themed "Improving the quality and effectiveness of the public security work in implementing the National Target Program on new rural development (NTP-NRD)."

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Steering Committee for Rural Security and Order of the Ministry of Public Security; and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam co-chaired the event.

The event also witnessed the participation of leaders of the Department for "All people protecting national security" Movement (V28) under the Ministry of Public Security; the police units and the Agriculture and Rural Development departments of 14 Southern provinces and cities; and representatives of the Can Tho municipal authority.

According to the conference's reports, in 2016, the nationwide police force investigated over 42,000 criminal cases; arrested more than 80,000 suspects; and cracked down on nearly 2,000 criminal gangs.

In order to achieve the results, the Ministry of Public Security focused on promoting and implementing effectively the movement "All people protecting national security" in rural areas.

Currently, there are more than 700 types of mass organizations and models protecting local security and order across the country. There are also over 36,000 local mediation groups; 92,000 local self-managed groups and over 31,000 vanguard youth groups with thousands of youth participants.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son stressed, the National Target Program on new rural development (NTP-NRD) is a comprehensive program on socio-economic, political, security and defense development with the goal of "Improving the material, cultural and spiritual lives of people in rural areas."

As a key force in protecting national security and ensuring political security and social safety and order, in the process of implementing the NTP-NRD, the police force has actively advised the Party Committee and authorities at all levels to promptly resolve petitions, complaints and disputes at the local level; drawn up plans to prevent and fight crimes; and deployed the "All people protecting national security" movement associated with the emulation movement "The whole nation joins efforts to build new rural areas" and the campaign "All people united to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas."

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son also urged the public security forces in the coming time to continue to prevent and control complicated issues on security and order in rural areas, enhance the quality of the communal police force while promoting mass dissemination to raise people's awareness on protecting national security.

The Steering Committee for Rural Security and Order of the Ministry of Public Security to actively coordinate with relevant agencies and braches, organizations and advice local Party leadership and authorities on approaches to mobilizing the whole political system to participate in building new rural areas.

*On same day, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security visited and had a working session with the Can Tho Municipal Fire Police.

Major General Tran Thi Ngoc Dep, Director of the Can Tho Municipal Fire Police briefed the task performance of the force in 2017.

In particular, the Can Tho Municipal Fire Police has closely coordinated with local authorities and people to implement effectively the projects and working plans, contributing to firmly maintaining the political security, fire safety for the city's socio-economic development.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son hailed the achievements of the Can Tho Municipal Fire Police in 2017.

The Deputy Minister urged that the Can Tho Municipal Fire Police in the coming time continue to promote their achievements, mobilize local people to join the force in preventing fire incidents while raising the  awareness and responsibility of all officers for fulfilling their duties entrusted by the Party and the people and minimizing the number of fire and explosion incidents in the city to contribute to ensuring local security and order, fire safety.
