Under the action plan of the Director of the Provincial Police, the Criminal Police Office of Hung Yen on June 6 conducted investigation into a drug trafficking case in Khoai Chau district, and caught Ta Van Ly, 42, resident of Phung Hung commune, Khoai Chau district carrying narcotics on the route of 39A National Highway.
The police seized 2 nylon bags, containing white powder Ly acknowledged to be heroin and bought from Nguyen Thi Huyen, 43, resident of Tan Dan commune, Khoai Chau.
By 7 pm of the same day, the Criminal Police of Hung Yen coordinated with the Khoai Chau Police Station to carry out an emergency search warrant of Huyen's residence.
During the search, the police officers were violently fought back by a brother of Huyen, named Nguyen Van Thanh, 46 years old, who was suffering HIV / AIDS in the last stage, with two criminal convictions of illegal drug trafficking. Thanh used knives to cut his wrist for bleeding and then attacked the on-duty police officers.
Despite the high risk of contracting HIV, the policemen tried to neutralize the subject, at the same time, bandage wounds to save his life.
8 policemen were injured and possibly exposed to HIV. The 8 wounded soldiers were taken to hospital for medical examination, tests and treatment against HIV / AIDS exposure. They are under a three-month special health monitoring program to avoid HIV contraction.
