MPS and Ministry of Defense enhance cooperation

PSNews-The Ministries of Defense and Public Security (MPS) organized a conference to evaluate the coordination between the two ministries in implementing Decree No. 77/2010 / ND-CP issued on 12 July 2010 by the Government in the first 6 months of 2017.

The meeting on July 13 was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Senior Lieutenant General Bui van Nam, Deputy Minister of MPS.

In the first 6 months of 2017, under the direction and guidance of the leaders of the two ministries, the army and public security forces at various levels continued to seriously implement Decree 77 by the Government on coordination between the Ministry of Defense and MPS in protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety as well as performing defense tasks, contributing to protecting national territorial sovereignty, facilitating socio-economic development and foreign relations of the country.

The Standing Offices of the two ministries on the implementation of Decree 77 regularly exchanged and shared information and organized periodical meetings in accordance with regulations, so as to promptly advise the leaders of the two ministries to direct involved agencies and units to jointly fulfill tasks.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam acknowledged and highly appreciated the active and regular coordination between the two forces at various levels in assessing the situation in the first 6 months of 2017, as well as giving timely proposals to leaders of the Party, the State, the Party Committee and local authorities on relevant issues, complicated issues regarding the defensive plan as well as security and order in some central and border provinces.

The tasks of the last 6 months of 2017 will contain various issues related to the protection of national security,maintenance of social order and safety, and national defense. Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam asked the forces to focus on grasping, analyzing, evaluating and forecasting the situation to advise the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Government on key issues to meet the requirements of security and order tasks in the last 6 months of 2017.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister of Defense Phan Van Giang acknowledged and applauded the results of the coordination between the two ministries.

He also urged that the two forces in the coming time should further promote coordination in deploying plans for protecting important political events of the country, firmly defend national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
