MPS meets reputable persons of ethnic minorities from Lai Chau

PSNews - Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security had a meeting with a delegation of reputable persons of ethnic minority communities in Lai Chau province in September.

Reporting to the Deputy Minister at the meeting, Senior Colonel Bui Gia Luot, Deputy Director of the Lai Chau Provincial Police Department, stated that Lai Chau has a population of 45,000 people and 20 ethnicities. The province has recognized 1,067 reputable persons.

Over the past years, the northwestern province has seen more than 2,000 village patriarchs, village heads, clansmen and reputable persons actively mobilizing local people to participate in ensuring security and order as well as in movements on hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and building cultural life in their residential areas.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang sincerely thanked and congratulated the reputable person in Lai Chau on their great achievements over the past time.

He affirmed that the public security forces have always been attached to the people in maintaining political security, building a good life for the people.

In the coming time, the deputy minister hoped that the reputable persons of ethnic minorities of Lai Chau province would continue cementing solidarity of all ethnic minorities in their localities while actively mobilizing all people to implement guidelines and policies of the Party and the State.

Lai Chau province’s reputable persons were also urged to put on the alert against plots and activities by hostile forces, contributing to ensuring security in the region and supporting the police to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.
