MPS reviews COVID-19 prevention and control

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) chaired a meeting on May 18 in Hanoi to reviews the results of COVID-19 prevention and fight of the Public Security Forces (PSF).

The event saw the presence of representatives of the Health Department, the Department of Party and Political Work and several other functional agencies under the MPS.

According to the reports at the meeting, after the 4th COVID-19 wave, the MPS’s Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control urgently issued dispatches directing local police units to step up COVID-19 prevention and control measures, especially during the holidays of April 30 and May 1, and the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People's Councils.

The MPS also held online meetings with functional units and the police forces of key provinces and cities on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MPS also handed over medical supplies to Lao partners on May 12 at the Cau Treo International Border Gate, Ha Tinh Province in support of Laos’ COVID-19 pandemic.

Logistics units also ensured that all public security officers and soldiers working on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic are fully equipped with medical items to prevent COVID-19 infection.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son highly appreciated the efforts and results of the PSF nationwide in preventing and controlling the pandemic.

The Deputy Minister asked the Health Department and functional agencies to be ready to open MPS-run quarantine facilities and set up field hospitals for COVID-19 patients upon request, and to prepare concentrated isolation zones for public security officers and soldiers suspected of virus infection.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son requested local police units, especially the police forces in pandemic-hit provinces and cities to speech up the tracing of COVID-19 suspect cases in the community while ensuring security and order at COVID-19 checkpoints, concentrated isolation zones and field hospital in localities. 

At the meeting, some organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against COVID-19 were awarded Certificates of Merit of the MPS.
