Minister To Lam active on the sidelines of the conference on terrorism prevention

PSNews - General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, had separate meetings with leaders of several relevant Russian agencies, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Anti-Terrorism, and the heads of the delegations of Laos, Cambodia and South Korea and some regional partners during the 18th Conference on Terrorism Prevention and Control in Sochi, Russia, from October 15 - 18.

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, had separate bilateral meetings with leaders of several relevant Russian agencies, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Anti-Terrorism, and the heads of the delegations of Laos, Cambodia and South Korea and some regional partners during the 18th Conference on Terrorism Prevention and Control in Sochi, Russia, from October 15 - 18.

Minister To Lam had meetings with Mr. Aleksandr Vladimirovich Gorovoy, the First Deputy-Minister of the Russian Internal Affairs, and Mr. Yury Aleksandrovich Kokov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

At the meeting with Mr. Gorovoy, Minister To Lam highly appreciated the positive results of the implementation of the agreements reached by the two sides. He also suggested that the two sides should further promote cooperation in preventing and fighting all types of crimes with a focus on the control of illegal migration and human trafficking.

“Vietnam is ready to sign a cooperation plan to implement the Agreement between Vietnam and Russia on ensuring international information security”, he stated in the meeting with Mr. Kokov.

Minister To Lam meets the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

At the meeting with Mr. Valadimir Ivanovich Voronkov, Deputy General Secretary of the United Nations in charge of counter-terrorism, Minister To Lam affirmed that Vietnam is always  a UN active and responsible member in terms of counter-terrorism and collaborating closely with other countries in the fight against terrorism. “Vietnam agrees in principle to join the United Nations to organize a regional conference on terrorism prevention and control in Vietnam in 2020”, he added.

Minister To Lam meets with the Lao Minister of Public Security.

Mr. Voronkovspoke highly of Vietnam's role and position in the international arena as well as its cooperation with the United Nations, the UN Security Council and other countries in the fight against terrorism. 

The country’s role in this fight is even more important, especially when Vietnam Nam become Chairman of ASEAN in 2020 and non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2020-2021. Mr. Voronkov also proposed the Vietnamese MPS to send a high-ranking delegation to theAnti-Terrorism Week hosted by the UN in New York.

During the anti-terrorism conference in Sochi, Minister To Lam had sideline meetings with heads of the delegations from Laos, Cambodia, South Korea and some other countries in the region to discuss issues of mutual concern and promotebilateral cooperation in the future.
