Minister To Lam attends meeting to roll 2021 working plan of HCMC police

PSNews - General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister The Ministry of Public Security, attended a meeting held by the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Police Department on December 22 to review the municipal police’s task performance in 2020 and roll out their working plan for next year.

In 2020, the police force of Ho Chi Minh City has handled 3,220 violations of social order and safety regulations, reaching 73.03%. 

Regarding the fight against drug-related crimes, the municipal police successfully investigated 1,795 cases, arrested 4,988 people involved, and seized 34.3 kg of heroin, 758.2 kg of synthetic drugs, 312.3 grams of cocaine, 82.5 kg of marijuana, 03 homemade mines, 32 guns, and 1,064 bullets of all kinds.

On behalf of the city’s leaders, Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee praised the achievements obtained by the municipal police force in 2020. 

The leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities will further facilitate the building of a gradually modernized municipal police force to successfully complete the task of ensuring security and order in the city, he affirmed.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized some key tasks for the city’s police force in the coming time, suggesting that the local police should drastically fight against crimes of all kinds, especially property-related crimes, "black credit", illegal debt collection, and drug trafficking while strengthening the management of conditional business lines.

The municipal police should advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to maintain economic security, creating a secure environment for economic development in the city, the Minister asked.

At the event, under the authority of the State President, Minister To Lam awarded the First-class “Feat of Arms” Order to Major General Le Hong Nam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department.

Under the authority of the Prime Minister, Minister To Lam also awarded the Prime Minister's Certificates of Merit to outstanding police officers.
