Minister To Lam pays official visit to Thailand
PSNews-Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS) led a high-ranking delegation of the MPS of Vietnam to pay a working visit to Thailand and attend the 1st Senior Dialogue between the MPS of Vietnam and the Royal Thai Police (RTP) at the invitation of General Chakthip Chaijinda, Commissioner General of RTP.

Upon his arrival in Bangkok, Minister To Lam and his delegation paid respects to late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej and expressed heartfelt sympathy to the Thai Queen, Royal Family, Government and the Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly and all Thai people for their great loss and grief.

Minister To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of the MPS paid a courtesy call on Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan Ocha, and visited the Vietnam Embassy in Thailand.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Thailand, Nguyen Tat Thanh joined the delegation in various activities.
Receiving the high-ranking MPS delegation, the Thai PM highly appreciated the visit by the minister and his entourage, and welcomed the Vietnamese MPS delegation to the 1st Senior Dialogue with the Royal Thai Police.

He also expressed his pleasure over recent fine developments in the Vietnam-Thailand Strategic Partnership, stressing that the working visit by Minister To Lam will contribute to strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries in general and between relevant agencies of Vietnam and Thailand in particular.
The Thai Prime Minister also sent his regards to Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other senior leaders of Vietnam, hoping Vietnam would achieve new achievements in its national construction.
Minister To Lam thanked the Thai Prime Minister for his reception as well as his care for the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the RTP.
Minister Lam emphasized that Vietnam always considers Thailand an important partner in ASEAN. He appreciated Thailand’s role in shaping and developing the ASEAN Community in the regional and global circumstances, which see rapid changes, and are interwoven by opportunities and challenges. Challenges of common concern include terrorism, transnational and organized crimes, drug-related crime, human trafficking, water security, and marine security and safety.

At the first dialogue, both sides are expected to focus discussions on issues relating to bilateral cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the RTP particularly, on exchange of information over international and regional issues of mutual concern, and prevention and suppression of transnational, drug-related crimes and environmental crimes.
On the basis of the fine traditional friendship between the two countries and in response to the current complicated situation, Minister To Lam suggested, the Thai PM direct relevant Thai agencies to actively study and soon sign an Agreement on Extradition, which will serve as a legal basis for both sides’ law enforcement forces. The Vietnamese Minister also proposed that the Thai leader continue facilitating cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant agencies of Thailand in various areas to protect security and order in each country.
At the meeting with the Vietnam Embassy and overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, Minister To Lam briefed Vietnam’s current situation, expressing his hope that the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand to further enhance solidarity among Vietnamese people living, studying and doing business in Thailand, and encourage them to make more contributions to both countries.
Minister To Lam confirmed that, on the basis of the fine Strategic Partnership between the two countries, Vietnamese nationals in Thailand will serve as an important factor, cultivating and promoting the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Thailand.
