Ministry of Public Security to increase application of technology in fighting drug crime

Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, on May 13 chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ministry of Public Security’s Program "Applying scientific and technological advances in fighting drug-related crimes in the period of 2020 - 2025”.

The meeting also saw the presence of representatives from other functional units under the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang praised the Program’s Steering Committee for its effort and high sense of responsibility. He affirmed that all of the studies are valuable and applicable to the fight against drug-related crime.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang requested the Steering Committee to consider the opinions and ideas given by delegates at the meeting while coordinating with relevant units and agencies to revise and supplement legal documents on prevention and combat of illicit drugs and drug-related crimes so as to lift obstacles to anti-drug police forces, and improve the efficiency of the fight against drug-related crimes in the current situation.

The Deputy Minister also asked the Steering Committee to learn experience and practices on drug crime prevention and combat from foreign countries to find out appropriate solutions to current issues in Vietnam.

They should continuously improve the quality of their current equipment while trying to research and develop new technologies for drug prevention and combat as well as expanding international cooperation in preventing and fighting drug-related crimes in the time to come.
