On-duty police officer dies in fight against drug suspects

On February 6, the Police Station of Muong Lat deployed a team, including 5 officers and soldiers, to catch a group of drug suspects in the area of Muong Ly commune.

The drug traffickers fought back drastically to escape from the scene, severely injured Major Vi Van Luan, 40.

Luan was taken to hospital but the policeman could not last out the same day due to his serious injuries.

Leaders of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department directed the relevant professional units to coordinate with the Police Station of Muong Lat to manage to arrest the escaped suspects. Additionally, the local police were asked to coordinate with the local authorities to hold funeral for the deceased policeman.

Major General Tran Phu Ha, Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, also visited to give condolences to the family of Major Luan.
