PSNews-The C500 team of the People’s Security Academy (PSA) successfully knocked out other teams from various prestigious universities of foreign languages nationwide to win the first title of the contest “2017 English Olympiad for English Major Students”, organized by University of Languages and International Studies, National University of Hanoi and the National Foreign Languages 2020 Project.

The National Finale was held by the National University of Hanoi on June 15, with the participation of the most outstanding teams nationwide, including: Vietnam Maritime University, University of Foreign Languages (Da Nang University), Can Tho University, International School (Thai Nguyen University), International School (Vietnam National University of Hanoi) and the PSA.

Before the big finale, the teams went through many qualifiers and regional finals that were tough and interesting. This year's competition titled “Vietnamese students create, broaden their vision, integrate into the world” was to challenge the teams to issues related to politics, economics, society and  "Start-up", a new topic that has drawn much attention from society.

The big competition on June 15 night consisted of three main parts: Introduction, in which the participating team introduced themselves to the jury and audience and showed their creativity, wit and enthusiasm of youth to make their first impression; Quiz show, in which the teams answered questions from the jury relating to the topics; Debate, in which the teams presented their views and arguments on a certain issue.

After the first two rounds, three teams, namely Can Tho University, Vietnam Maritime University and PSA took the lead and entered the toughest part “Debate”, which required participants to have strong will and command English.

Although many questions at the contest were not familiar with students at PSA, members of the PSA’s C500 with their talent and under effective support from their teachers have won both the Regional and National Finales.

The victory at the contest has brought not only the pride and happiness to all members of the team but also the collective merits and joy to the Faculty of Foreign Languages of PSA, and the PSA as a whole. At the same time, it has demonstrated the large capacity of the PSA in training foreign languages and talent of PSA’s students who learn well not only their professional skills but also foreign languages, a good preparation for international integration in the future.
