The gifts worth 40 million VND, donated by Vietnam’s Miss International Dang Thu Thao, Phuong Trang Futa Bus Lines and Vat Trading Joint Stock Company, were presented by representatives of the Public Security Newspaper to the family of late “street knight” Nguyen Van Thoi in My Loi commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province on May 22.

Nguyen Van Thoi (29) and his teammate, Nguyen Hoang Nam, who used to work with a voluntary “street knight” group, were slashed to death, and their three mates were wounded while they tried to stop a gang of thieves from stealing an expensive scooter in Ho Chi Minh City on May 13.
The “street knights” have demonstrated their courage, knightliness and readiness to fight to death any criminals to protect people’s property, contributing to maintaining social security and safety.
For their bravery, State President Tran Dai Quang decided on May 18 to posthumously award medals of courage to two “street knights” Nguyen Van Thoi and Nguyen Hoang Nam.
Minister of Pubic Security To Lam on May 14 in a letters of condolences to the families of the "street knights" also emphasized that they should be acclaimed as outstanding examples in the movement of “All people protecting national security,” and that the society of “street knights” work very effectively along with the People's Police forces in ensuring political security, social order and safety in the locality.
Speaking to the Public Security Newspaper, “street knight” Nguyen Van Thoi’s father, Mr. Nguyen Bi, said that he and his wife were very upset when they lost their lovely son. However, they are also very proud of their son and his action, saying that Thoi and his mates contribute to building a better life for the people by fighting criminals.
Colonel Phan Sau - Chief of the Phu My District Police also said, "People admire the courageous action of Mr. Nguyen Van Thoi and his team in arresting criminals. They are typical examples in the movement of “All people protecting national security”, and their work should widely be popularized to create a movement to fight against crimes.”
