People of Soc Trang voluntarily surrender 1,300 weapons of all kinds
PSNews – The Provincial People’s Committee of Soc Trang organized a conference to review the implementation of the Ordinance on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives and Combat Gears on October 10.
Since the Ordinance came into effect, the Provincial People’s Committee of Soc Trang has organized intensive campaigns to collect weapons, explosives and combat gears; as a result, a large number of weapons, explosives and combat gears have voluntarily been surrendered by local officials and people.
Particularly, the authorities of Soc Trang have collected 902 guns, 49 hunting rifles, 361 homemade guns, 16 bombs, 89 grenades and mines, 92 artillery shells, 21 rudimentary weapons, 1,154 bullets, 1,232 support tools and 43 detonators.
Additionally, the provincial authorities have directed relevant local agencies, mass organizations at all levels and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities of the province to implement the registration and management of weapons, explosives and combat gears seriously and efficiently.
has According to official statistics, the local competent agencies have so far granted 6,331 firearms permits, including 5,604 licenses to possess and use weapons, registration certificates of weapons, and 240 permits for purchase, repair and transportation of weapons, explosives and combat gears. They have also organized 2 training courses on management and use of combat gears for 113 local agencies and enterprises.
Over the past time, the police force has inspected the management of weapons, explosives and combat gears at 795 local agencies and units.
During the inspections, the police force detected various violations regarding the management of weapons, explosives and combat gears; prosecuted 3 cases of illegal trade and storage of weapons and 5 people involved; imposed VND 65 million of fine on 13 units with wrongdoings in weapon management; and confiscated 10 rubber batons, 19 metal batons, and 1 hunting rifle.
