Police officer swept away by floodwater while rescuing people

PSNews – Pham Minh Tu (born in 1969), police officer of the Tan Thinh Police Post in Loc Chau Commune, Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province was killed by floodwater while performing duty in flooded areas on August 8.

Due to the impact of Storm No.3, on the morning of August 8, heavy rains occurred in Loc Chau Commune, Bao Long City, Lam Dong Province.

The rains triggered serious floods in residential areas, threatening the locals.

In the dangerous situation, the People’s Committee of Loc Chau District mobilized armed forces to support local people in flood.

At 8.25 am, the floodwater continued to rise, pouring into the low area of Tan Thinh ward, which endangered local people.

Pham Minh Tu (born in 1969), police officer of the Tan Thinh Commune Police Post, was swept away in floods while he was breaking a wall to create an outlet for floodwater.

 Functional forces and local people later found Tu’s body.
