Public Security Forces take drastic measures to prevent COVID-19 in border areas

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Ministry of Public Security’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control, and Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Minister of Health, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control,co-chaired the meeting.

The meeting also saw the presence of representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control and leaders of Southern public security agencies and units.
At the meeting, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security’s Immigration Management Department, the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control, the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command and other relevant authorities delivered reports on the Covid-19 situation and discussed preventive measures against the disease as well as solutions to difficulties in quarantining the people who returned to the country from epidemic areas.
On behalf of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control, Mr. Nguyen Truong Son highly appreciated the efforts of the Public Security Forces at all levels in preventing the disease over the past time.

Particularly, public security agencies and units, in coordination with the border guard forces and local authorities, took effective and comprehensivemeasuresagainstCovid-19 along the borderlines and at the border gates.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Truong Son suggested the border gate police forces further coordinate with the border guard forces and related units in checking electronic health declarations of all people upon entry in Vietnam.
Furthermore, the police forces should paid due attention to grasping the disease situation to early detect and quarantine people with signs of Covid-19, contributing to protecting the public’s health.
Amid complicated developments of the disease, the police forces should also strengthen prevention of cross-border smuggling of goods, especially smuggling of medical stuffs and devices.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son requested relevant units to ensure medical equipment and supplies for disease prevention.
The higher-level public security hospitals and other health facilities should be ready to receive and treat infected people while education institutions and training centers of the Public Security Forces should well prepare to quarantine Covid-19 suspects on request.
