Public Security Trade Union strives to build strong and comprehensive force

PSNews - The Trade Union of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on June 21 opened the 5th Public Security Trade Union Congress in the term 2018-2023. 

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security; and Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor attended the event.

The event also saw the presence of leaders of General Departments, Commands and Provincials Police Departments under the MPS, as well as 250 delegates representing over 25,000 members of the Public Security Trade Union.

As of March 31, the Public Security Trade Union's membership is 25,217, working at 21 upper-basic-level trade union chapters  and one basic-level union chapter.

According to the central political report of the last Congress, during the last term, the Public Security Trade Union’s Executive Committee took due care of its members and protected the legitimate rights and interests of its members and other working people. It also promote dissemination and education of political ideology, laws, morality and good lifestyles for members. The Public Security Trade Union’s Executive Committee also focused on building a strong trade union organization and improving the quality and efficiency of the trade union's cadres.

Regarding the limitations of the Public Security Trade Union in the previous term, the Executive Committee of the Public Security Trade Union pointed out that public security agencies and units did not effectively promote the important role of the Trade Union in the Public Security Forces, and many units did not really support the establishment of a trade union organization in ttheir units.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor praised the efforts of all members as well as good results of the Public Security Trade Union over the past term.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai suggested that the Public Security Trade Union should set “Three goods” targets: observing the laws, building a good working environment, and serving as a reliable support for needy members and workers.

He believed that the 5th Public Security Trade Union Congress would become an important milestone in building a stronger Public Security Trade Union.

For his part, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh applauded the Public Security Trade Union’s efforts in connecting the trade union's work to the political tasks of agencies and units in the previous term. He suggested the Trade Union organizations at all levels draw up specific directions for their trade union activities.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also stressed that the trade union officials should be considered as a core force in building a strong and comprehensive Public Security Trade Union.

The Deputy Minister urged the Public Security Trade Union to seriously learn lessons from both successes and failures to gain practical experience in building a strong Public Security Trade Union.
