Public Security schools to pilot specific training courses

PSNews – The Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training held a working session on April 7, to review outcomes of implementing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the two ministries.

The meeting saw the participations of Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security;  Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Prof. Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training; as well as other representatives of relevant agencies of the two ministries.

According to a report summarizing the 10-year implementation of the MoU between the two ministries, the public security school system has gradually been perfected, meeting the requirements of national security protection and social order of the country in the current situation.

Minister To Lam addressing at the working session 

Currently, the public security force runs 19 academies, universities and colleges. The Public Security Ministry has approved a project to develop the Public Security Academy and the People’s Police Academy as key education and training institutions of the public security force, as well as of Vietnam.

The educational and training system of the public security force has 4,881 officers and civilian workers, including 414 Ph.Ds, 98 Associate Professors and 20 Professors. All teachers and education administrators regularly participate in refreshment training courses to their knowledge and expertise. 

Since 2007, the Ministry of Education and Training has allowed the public security schools to open 26 majors and 11 new specific majors. In addition to education and training, public security schools have made remarkable progress in scientific research.

Senior Lieutenant General To lam presenting medals of National Security Protection to excellent representatives of MoET 

A representative of the Ministry of Education and Training suggested the Ministry of Public Security improve the quality of lectures, promote international cooperation, as well as complete lists of their training courses, in line with the new plan signed by the Prime Minister.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam thanked the Ministry of Education and Training for its close collaboration over the past 10 years.

Minister To Lam suggested the Ministry of Education and Training review, evaluate and submit to the Prime Minister a project to found a Foreign Language University of Public Security.

At the meeting, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha presented commemorative medals "For the cause of education" to leaders of the public security force including Senior Lieutenant General To Lam – Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh – Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Nguyen Danh Cong – Chief of the Public Security Ministerial Office; Lieutenant General Dong Dai Loc – Deputy Director of the General Department of Police; Lieutenant General Duong Minh Hung – Deputy Director of the General Department of Public Security

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam also handed over medals of National Security Protection to 5 excellent individuals of the Ministry of Education and Training.
