According to a newly published report by the Traffic Police Division under the Danang Municipal Police Department, the unit detected and handled 875 cases of violations of the Road Traffic Law, and imposed 1.051 billion VND of fine on 792 vehicles with traffic violations recorded by traffic cameras around the city.
Danang is one of the first localities in the country to install traffic surveillance cameras on key roads of the city.
The Traffic Police Division under the Danang Municipal Police Department also posts the license plates of vehicles caught by cameras violating traffic regulations on its official Facebook page, an additional reminder to offenders besides issuing tickets.
The moves receives wide support from the people, and improve the public sense of traffic law observance in Danang city.
In addition to handling violations of traffic regulations with the aid of surveillance camera systems, the Danang traffic police also handle traffic violations through images recorded by the people.
Last months, 3 truck drivers was fined 1.6 million VND per person for driving through a red light on Ngo Quyen street as their violations were recorded by people on their phones then notified to the police.
