Traffic police urged to apply information technology in ensuring traffic order and safety

PSNews - Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security on the afternoon of May 30 had a working session with the Traffic Police Department on applying information technology in ensuring traffic order and safety.

At the event, leader of the Traffic Police Department briefed Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son on the situation of applying information technology in ensuring traffic order and safety, saying the force has put into operation various database systems to facilitate vehicle registration, the management of traffic accidents, and settlement of violations of the road traffic law.

Meanwhile, the force is also operating monitoring systems to handle violations of the road traffic law (3 sections of National Highway 1A monitored); radio communication systems; video conferencing systems; the Traffic Police website.

A car registration database system built in 2012 benefits 72 car registration points of local Police Departments while a motorbike registration database built in 2014 supports 613 motorcycle registration points nationwide. Thanks to the systems, all data with more than 3 million records of cars, more than 50 million records of motorcycles are sent and centrally managed at the Department of Traffic Police.

In addition, the application of science and technology in patrolling the roads, checking traffic means and handling traffic violations, has seen good results, facilitating the traffic management and ensuring traffic order and safety.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son stressed the need of the application of information technology in ensuring traffic order and safety.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son suggested, in the coming time, the Department of Traffic Police continue to research and upgrade the registration systems of cars and motorcycles as well as work on data sharing solutions with agencies within and outside the police force.

He urged the unit to cooperate with the Department of Cyber Security under the Ministry of Public Security to enhance information security and safety for its vehicle registration systems in particular and other systems of the Traffic Police Department in general.

The Traffic Police Department should also pay attention on training information technology application programs for the staff so that they can work well with modern technology application systems, meeting the task requirements in the current situation.
