Vietnam–Australia boost cooperation on security

Minister To Lam expressed his delight at fine developments in the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Australia in general and between the Public Security Ministry of Vietnam and Australian law enforcement agencies in particular, over the past year.
The cooperation of the two sides has been well maintained and effectively expanded in personnel training; verdict execution and judicial assistance as well as migration-immigration management and transnational crime prevention.
These positive results have contributed to ensuring peace for people's life; social order safety, national security of each country; and stability in the region and world.
Regarding events relating to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) 2017 in Vietnam, Minister To Lam stated that the Public Security Ministry of Vietnam clearly understood the concern of Australia as well as other countries to attend APEC events in Vietnam amid recent terrorist attacks in Southeast Asia and in the world.
Mr. To Lam vowed to exert all-out effort to ensure absolute security and safety for APEC 2017’s events. He said, Vietnam will cooperate closely with Australia to ensure security and safety for the upcoming Vietnam visit of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, on the occasion of his participation in the APEC Summit Week in Da Nang, in November.
For his part, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick thanked the Public Security Ministry and Minster To Lam for the kind reception. He also hailed the fine security cooperation between the two nations, contributing to protecting each country’s interests and national security.
The Ambassador also affirmed that he will do his best to bolster and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries comprehensively.
