Vietnam, Cambodia boost cooperation on border security
PSNews – The Provincial Police of Tra Vinh (Vietnam) and the police of Cambodian Takeo and Kandal provinces held a conference on November 30 in Takeo province to review cooperation results in 2017 and announce the cooperation plan for the first half of 2018.

The conference was attended by Major General Bui Quang Hai, Director of the Department for the Southwestern Region Security under the Ministry of Public Security; Major General Bui Be Tu, Director of An Giang Provincial Police; Lieutenant General Sok Samnang, Director of Takeo Provincial Police and Lieutenant General Eav Chamroeun, Director of Provincial Kandal Police.
In 2017, the three provinces’ police forces have regularly conducted cooperation on information sharing and mobilized people from both countries to participate in keeping security and order, facilitating people in the border area in their travel and trade activities.
In addition, relevant police forces of the three provinces have often conducted joint patrols in the security and order hot spots in the border area.
The police forces of the two sides have also proactively advised local authorities to promptly tackle all conflicts among people in the border area, organized patrols to protect border landmarks and prevent hostile forces from sabotaging friendship between the two countries.
In the spirit of solidarity, friendship and mutual respect, at the meeting, the police of An Giang province and the police of the provinces of Takeo and Kandal agreed on a number of key tasks and directions for joint coordination to maintain security and order, stability of the border, contributing to strengthening friendship and solidarity between the two governments and the two peoples.
