Vietnam, Japan to strengthen cooperation in fire prevention and rescue

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security on September 21 met with Mr. Sugi Ryotaro, Special Ambassador for Japan - Vietnam Friendship. 

At the reception in Hanoi, Minister To Lam expressed thanks to Japan, saying that Vietnam has received much assistance in fire prevention and rescue from the Japanese Government over the past years. The supports include used fire trucks and rescue equipment.

The Fire and Rescue Police Department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has assigned 327 fire engines and special functions trucks supported by Japan to the 63 local firefighting units nationwide, he noted.

Minister To Lam highly appreciated the aid project in which Japanese side provides used fire engines for the Vietnamese Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting.

The Minister also hoped that Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro, the Japan Firefighters’ Association and the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy will ensure the progress of the project, as well as the quantity and quality of firefighting and rescue vehicles and equipment; and continue to provide personnel training for Vietnam’s Fire Police force.

Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro thanked Minister Lam for the kind reception and hoped that the Vietnam-Japan cooperation in fire prevention and rescue sector will continue to grow with good outcomes.

After the reception, Minister To Lam and Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro witnessed the signing of a project in which the Japanese Embassy will supply used fire trucks for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
