This is part of the program of "Vietnam- Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017."
The seminar started from December 5 under the chair of Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong and Lao Deputy Minister of Security Somvang Thammasith. Lao Minister of Security Somkeo Silavong attended and made a keynote speech.

During the meeting, relevant agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Lao Ministry of Security discussed all aspects of the missions of ensuring national security and social order of each country.
The two sides have agreed to maintain a professional cooperation channel to promptly exchange measures and plans to fight crimes effectively in each country and transnational crimes.
Under the schedule, the leaders of the General Departments, and agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security from December 5 to 8 will give presentations on their task performances.
* Earlier on December 4, the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security paid a courtesy visit to Lao Minister of Security Somkeo Silavong.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong congratulated Minister Somkeo Silavong on the occasion of the 42nd Lao National Day (2 December).

He spoke highly of the achievements that have been attained by the Party and people of Laos as well as Lao security officers in their national development process.
The Vietnamese deputy minister hoped that under the leadership of Minister Somkeo Silavong and other Lao Security Ministry’s leaders, the cooperation between the public security forces of the two countries will be further strengthened, significantly contributing to ensuring security along the shared borderline and within each country, denying any organizations and individuals from taking advantage of one country's territory to undermine security of the other country.
Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong also hoped that the two sides will continue to promote exchange of high-level delegations, experience sharing in crime prevention, personnel training cooperation, technical equipment support, and cooperation in fighting transnational crimes, especially drug-related crime, smuggling and human trafficking.
Mr. Somkeo Silavong applauded the visit to Laos of the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security on the occasion of the 42nd Lao National Day.
He thanked the Vietnamese deputy minister and other leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for their good sentiments and efficient supports for Laos in all aspects of public security work.
He wished that Deputy Minister le Quy Vuong would continue to support and team up with the Lao Security Ministry's leaders to promote the traditional relationship between the two ministries in particular and the two countries in general.
* During the working program, the high-level delegation of the Ministry of Public Security visited and worked with the C5 working mission and the Embassy of Vietnam in Laos. At the meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff, General Vuong briefed them on the situation of the country and the orientations for cooperation between the Vietnamese and Laos public security forces in the coming time.
He affirmed the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party, the Government and the Ministry of Public Security to further deepen the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
