At the district level round of the Da Nang City Technology and Science Competition for Secondary-High School Students in academic year 2016-2017, Huy and Thu won 3rd Prize.
From available materials, such as a flask, glass tubes, cell, bell, flash light and some chemicals, Thu and Huy create an interesting physical phenomenon under a simple operating principle: When a relatively small space spots changes intemperatures (45ºC - 60ºC), the air inside the flask will dilate, and this moves drops of chemical liquid of good electrical conductivity to the other end, connecting the electric current and making the fire alarm rings and glows.

This simple yet effectivefire alarm could automatically detect and warn of the fire 24 hours a day and report people about the danger of fire via a speaker.
Huy said: ''Recently there were many blazes. Some extensive fires caused terrible damages and losses to people and property due to lack of fire detection. That was why me and Thu decided to work on this device.''
''This system is a creative idea to support the work of firefighting and rescue. It is a scientific product and is easily applicable in daily life'', said teacher Pham Cong Hai who closely directed Huy and Thu.
The Auto-Fire Alarm System is one of 149 inventions in 22 categories made by students from 44 Secondary schools and 13 High schools, which will take part in the National Technology and Science Competition for Secondary and High School students in academic year 2016-2017.
