Leaders of Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Home Office of the UK discuss cooperation on the phone

Minister of Public Security General To Lam, made a phone call to Secretary of State for the Home Department of the UK James Cleverly on April 15 to discuss cooperation between the two sides.

Minister To Lam emphasized that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to developing relations with the UK.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, relations between the two countries have developed in a positive and comprehensive manner.

Via their regular delegation exchanges, high-level contacts and cooperation mechanisms, the two countries expanded their cooperation in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economics, security, defense, science and technology, culture and education, local-level connection.

Meanwhile, the MPS of Vietnam and the  Home Office of the UK cooperated closely in fighting and preventing crime.

The areas the two sides recently focused on strengthening cooperation include migration and immigration management, prevention and combat of crimes and human trafficking.

In fact, the two sides regularly exchanged information and effectively implemented the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two Governments on migration management, as well as the signed deal on cooperation in preventing and combating human trafficking.

During the phone-call, the two leaders  agreed that the two sides should continue to implement the signed cooperation documents, increase delegation exchange at all levels to share information and experience in preventing and combating human trafficking and illegal migration.

Minister To Lam reiterated, Vietnam supports and commits to cooperating closely with the British side in preventing and combating human trafficking and illegal migration while coordinating with UK enforcement agencies in the fight against criminal organizations.

Minister To Lam also reaffirms that there no Vietnamese citizen has been trafficked directly from Vietnam to the UK, but all the Vietnamese citizens found in the recent cases werevictims of human trafficking groups in Europe.

The two senior officials also discussed orientations for future cooperation between the two sides.
