Minister of Public Security General To Lam received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Yamada Takio, who paid a farewell visit to the Ministry of Public Security as he finished his term of office in the country, on the afternoon of April 9, 2024, in Hanoi.

Congratulating Ambassador Yamada Takio on his successful working term in Vietnam, Minister To Lam affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security recognized the Ambassador's efforts and contributions to strengthening the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general, and cooperation between Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security and Japanese law enforcement agencies in particular.

Minister To Lam emphasized that Vietnam - Japan relations are now at the best stage in history since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Thanks to that, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and relevant Japanese agencies is close and effective, achieving positive results.

The two sides maintain cooperation mechanisms on crime prevention and control, especially the Vietnam-Japan Deputy Minister-level Security Dialogue, to exchange situations, information as as well as to discuss measures to expand the bilateral cooperation in various fields.

To continue promoting Vietnam - Japan relations and cooperation to new heights, Minister To Lam proposed that the two sides further consolidate strategic trust, improve the quality of information exchange channels, strengthen cooperation in preventing and combating traditional and non-traditional security crimes while increasing exchanges between local police forces of the two countries.

Ambassador Yamada Takio expressed sincere thanks to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Minister To Lam for the good sentiment and support for Japan and the Ambassador personally during his term of office in  Vietnam.

The Ambassador wished the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan to further develop, and affirmed that after returning home, no matter what position he will undertake, he will contribute to the Vietnam-Japan relationship.
