Ministry of Public Security strengthens cooperation with Singaporean partners

Within the framework of a trip to Singapore, a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc paid a courtesy visit to Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of the Republic of Singapore Teo Chee Hean, on February 1.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc passed warm regards from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister of Public Security General To Lam to Mr. Teo Chee Hean, and reported to Mr. Tieu Chi Hien on the results of cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Singapore law enforcement agencies in recent times, following the deals between Minister To Lam and Mr. Teo Chee Hean during his trip to Vietnam in November 2023.

According to the Vietnamese deputy minister, the two sides have expanded cooperation in the fields of security, digital transformation and national data center construction.

The guest also said that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam wishes that the two sides would conduct negotiations on the signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of digital transformation and building a national data center between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Singaporean Prime Minister's Office.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc also hoped that Mr. Teo Chee Hean will direct relevant Singapore authorities to coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to connect population databases between the two countries, and complete the legal framework to recognize the electronic identification system between the two countries through connecting the two applications SingPass of Singapore and VNeID of Vietnam to facilitate the travel of citizens of the two countries.

Highly appreciating the trip of Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to Singapore, Mr. Teo Chee Hean expressed his delight at the good cooperation between the Singapore law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, and acknowledged the cooperation proposals of the Vietnamese side.

He said, he hoped that the two countries would continue to cooperate in three key areas, namely security, digital economy and human resource training.

On the same morning, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc and the Vietnamese delegation attended the annual dialogue between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Information and Communications of Singapore, the Office of Digital Government and Smart Nation of Singapore ( SNDGO) and the Government of Singapore's Technology Agency (GovTech).
