Residents living along National Highway 6 in Mai Chau on April 18 spotted two boys walking with their bicycles, looking hungry, thirsty and worn-out.

So they took the boys to their home to bath and feed them up, then contacted local police.

The Mai Chau district police received calls from relatives of the two boys the next day. Thanks to the National Population Database and support of local police, the children’s identities were verified.

Earlier, the police had used data available in the National Population Database to verify names, ages and families of the two boys.

The boys’ families said they left home on March 29. By the time they were found, the children had travelled nearly 500 kilometers for 21 days.

At the Dao San Communal Police Post, the children’s family members thanked the police for taking good care of them and bringing them home safe and sound.
