Minister To Lam works with Office of Criminal Investigation Agency

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, on June 9 worked with the Office of the Criminal Investigation Agency under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on crime prevention and control.

The event also saw the presence of various leaders of the MPS and relevant under-ministerial agencies and units.

According to Major General Do Van Hoanh, Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency’s Office, over the past time, the Office has advised the MPS leadership to issue policies and approaches to control crimes and improve the efficiency of criminal investigation.

In addition, the Office advised the upper levels in building and revising legal documents related to criminal investigation.

In order to realize the set target of reducing 5% of criminal offenses per year, the Office suggested that, in the time to come, the entire Police Force should focus on preventing and fighting crimes of property theft, intentional injury, robbery, commercial fraud, "black credit", organized crime, and murder.

Addressing the event, Minister To Lam praised the criminal investigation force as well as the office for their efforts and achievements over the past time.

In the time to come, he asked all the criminal investigation force to proactively grasp the crime situation and advise the MPS leadership to issue policies and approaches on crime prevention and control. At the same time, they should pay due attention to inspecting and supervising the work of receiving and handling crime denunciations and reports.

The Minister also asked the Office to direct the criminal investigation force to intensify the fight against crimes while enhancing international coordination in criminal procedures and criminal legal assistance. 

The Office should attach importance to the Party and political work, contributing to building a clean and elite criminal investigation force, Minister To Lam emphasized.
