Ministry of Public Security promotes reading movement

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a ceremony on April 13 to launch a reading movement themed “Revolutionary, regular, elite and modern Public Security Forces”. The event saw the attendance of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

The event, in celebration of the 8th Vietnam Book Day and the World Book and Copyright Day 2021, aims to highlight the importance of books and promote a reading culture, as well as to honor book collectors, readers, authors, and publishers of the Public Security Forces.

At the event, various publications featuring feats of arms and achievements of People's Armed Forces were introduced. Audiences can also see major scientific studies on national security protection, social order and safety maintenance, force building, logistics and technology.

At the event, the MPS also exhibited more than 1000 books featuring the history of the Public Security Forces, literary works by public security writers, research projects on the Party and President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, and other topics. A photo exhibition on the public security library system was also organized within the framework of the event.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Thanh highlighted the important role of books and a reading culture, saying that all public security agencies and units from the central level to local should pay more attention to promoting the reading culture among their officers and soldiers. They should invest more in digitizing libraries, he urged.

At the event, under the authority of the Prime Minister, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the Department of Party and Political Work for its contribution to promoting a reading culture in the community.

Outstanding subunits and officers with achievements in the reading movement and excellent publications were also honored at the event.

The ceremony also saw the sign of a coordination program among the Department of Party and Political Works under the MPS, the Book Publishing, Printing and Distribution Department under the Ministry of Informationand Communication, and the Vietnam Library Association.
