Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution reviews task performance

The Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), in July held a conference to review its task performance in the first 6 months of 2020. Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended and delivered remarks at the event.

The reports at the conference read that the Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution has closely followed the working plans of the MPS, focused on drafting legal documents guiding the implementation of the Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments. 

The police sector at the local level has proactively and effectively prevented arrestees from escaping detention facilities, committing suicide and violating regulations and order in detention camps.

In particular, the department has directed detention facilities to actively prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, those who serve their sentences in the community are monitored, managed and educated properly in line with the laws.

The sector has also effectively implemented its functions of supporting the enforcement of judicial decisions and criminal sentences in the community, as well as supported prisoners released under special amnesty to reintegrate in the community, contributing to reducing the number of repeat offences.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung praised the good results that the Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution has achieved in recent years. He suggested it should focus on the preparation for its Party Congress and Emulation Festival in the period 2015–2020.

The deputy minister also emphasized the urgency to set up a working team to inspect and provide professional guidance and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of task performance for local police officers in charge of management of detention facilities and criminal judgment execution.
