Vietnam and Japan promote ties in fire prevention and fighting, rescue

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security, on September 26 received Mr. Kenichi Yamamoto, Senior Vice Director of the Board for Southeast Asia and Pacific of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong appreciated the Japanese Government’s supports for infrastructure projects of Vietnam, particularly those in traffic, education and training and poverty reduction. 

The support of the Japanese Government via JICA for Vietnam plays an important role in maintaining social stability and economic development of Vietnam, contributing to successfully fulfilling the country’s goal of industrialization by 2020.

Deputy Minister Le QuyVuong also spoke highly of a project to enhance capabilities for Vietnamese fire prevention and fighting and rescue police with the use of ODA from Japan, and asked JICA to continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam to accelerate the process of evaluation and soon announce the project after it has been approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

Mr. Kenichi Yamamoto said that, in recent years, the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan has developed in all areas, and affirmed that he would further contribute to promoting the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and JICA in particular and between the two countries in general.

He also expressed his deep condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang, emphasizing that President Quang had made great contributions to the Vietnam – Japan strategic partnership.
