Vietnam rescues 2 distressed Filipinos at sea

PSNews – The Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee on January 10th reported and proposed Consultant Department - Ministry of Foreign Affair and relevant agencies to coordinate with the Philippine Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City to take those 2 Filipino back home.

Earlier on December 24th, while fishing boat PY-95021 owned and captained by Nguyen Thai Hung (resident of group 4, Phu Dong ward, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen) with 5 crewmen were fishing about 160 miles northeast of Southwest Cay Island of Spratly Islands spotting 2 men holding wooden chunks nearby a sinking fishing boat.

The Vietnamese crewmen quickly approached and rescued the two victims, and at the same time reported the case to the Phu Yen Border Guard via the Incom system.

2 victims are Villardoc C.Ruzir (aged 36) and Severino Noveras Camposano (aged 37), both residents of Salcedo Bansud Or Mindoro, the Philippines.

Vietnamese fishing boat PY-95021 had to continue i fishing, and did not return to the mainland and handed over the two Filipinos to Vietnamese competent authorities till January 9th.

Talking to border guard and police of Phu Yen Immigration management department, C.Ruziz and Camposano told the border guard and police of Phu Yen province that their boat sank after a strong thunderstorm and they had had to hold the wooden pieces on the boat’s stem for 5 days before being rescued by the Vietnamese fishermen.
