Women’s Union chapter of GDP carries gratitude activities in Con Dao

PSNews - The delegation of the Women's Union chapter of the General Department of Politics (GDP) has paid homage incense to heroic martyrs and carried out gratitude activities in Con Dao, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

On the occasion of the 70th Day for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 – 2017), the delegation of the Women’s Union chapter of GDP offered incense to heroic martyrs and carried out gratitude activities from July 18-20, in Con Dao, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.

The gratitude journey also drew the participation of Major General Mai Van Ha, Deputy Director of GDP and Senior Colonel Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Political Staff Department.

The Hang Duong cemetery on the island has 1,921 tombs of martyrs, of which just over 700 have been named. The remainders have not yet identified since the fallen revolutionaries used false names with the aim of keeping secret of their missions and revolutionary organizations while being imprisoned.

With such heroic significance, the Hang Duong cemetery is a clear demonstration of patriotism, indomitability and bravery of the Vietnamese people.  

The delegation lighted incense and laid wreaths at the tombs of the late Party’s Chief Le Hong Phong; patriot Nguyen An Ninh; Hero of People’s Armed Forces Luu Chi Hieu and Hero of People’s Armed Forces Vo Thi Sau.

Ms. Vo Thi Sau joined the Dat Do Armed Police Force. She was arrested by the French at the age of 15 and was sentenced to death by a French military police court in 1952, when she was under 18 years old.

In addition, the delegation in collaboration with a donor, Hoa Binh Building Group, visited and presented gifts to policy and revolutionary families; studious children of needy public security soldiers in Con Dao; excellent students at the Cao Van Ngoc primary school, the Vo Thi Sau secondary school, the Vo Thi Sau high school totally worth VND 137 million.

Major General Mai Van Ha emotionally stated that the gratitude journey to Con Dao was a meaningful activity, helping officers, soldiers of GDP promote patriotism. He also hoped that the gratitude journey also gave a motivation to each participant, contributing to successfully fulfilling their assignments.

Colonel Pham Thi Nhan, Head of the Women’s Union chapter of GDP said: “We will organize more gratitude and charitable activities in mountainous and remote areas as well as other disadvantaged localities.”
