Public security intelligence force marks 75th founding anniversary

The Public Security Intelligence Force held a ceremony on January 19 to receive the First-class Fatherland Protection Order and mark its 75th founding anniversary. Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the event among other leaders of the Party and the State.

On February 21, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No 23/SL on unifying public security units nationwide to “Viet Nam Cong An Vu” (Public Security Department of Vietnam) and assigning tasks to the new force, particularly intelligence gathering.

Over the past 75 years, the people’s public security intelligence force has achieved a lot of excellent achievements, deserving its status as one of the key and trustworthy armed forces of the Party, State, and people.

On this occasion, the force was honored with a first-class Fatherland Protection Order by the Party and State for its major contribution to the cause of national development and protection.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Phuc stressed that to fulfill the heavy responsibility assigned by the Party, State, Ministry of Public Security, and people, the public security intelligence force should always thoroughly grasp the situation and comprehend their tasks as well as seriously follow and effectively implement the Party and State’s directions.

In the time to come, it should thoroughly grasp the situation and develop an action program to effectively carry out the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, and give more strategic advice to its superiors, while continuously improving its professional expertise to meet the requirements of national development and defense in the new situation, the PM said.

The people’s public security intelligence force must always put itself under the absolute and direct leadership of the Party, the State President’s command, the Prime Minister’s governance, and direction of the Minister of Public Security, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc added.

According to PM Phuc, leaders of the force should promote political and ideological education, educate the heroic traditions of the Public Security Forces and revolutionary morality, and improve professional skills for intelligence officers. They should build a contingent of intelligence officers with firm political stance, steadfastness and absolute loyalty to the Party, Fatherland, and people. Public security intelligence officers should always be ready to sacrifice their lives for the Party and nation’s revolutionary cause, and have a sharp vision and good qualifications, meeting the requirements of both short- and long-term tasks.

The Government leader expressed his belief that under the Party’s leadership, the people’s public security intelligence force will obtain greater achievements, thereby contributing to the cause of national construction and defense, and deserving the Party, State, and people’s trust.
