Dak Lak’s specialty durian ready to be exported on official channel

According to Mr. Dinh Xuan Dieu, Chairman of the Krong Pak District People's Committee (Dak Lak Province), the district has about 35,000 hectares of annual crops and nearly 29,000 hectares of perennial crops.

Meanwhile, Krong Pak has nearly 4,000 hectares of durian with an estimated output of about 45,000 tons/year, bringing good incomes to farmers in recent years.

Mr. Nguyen Lan Hung, General Secretary of the Vietnam Society of Biological Science, said that Dak Lak Province has many advantages to develop durian cultivation. Particularly, Krong Pak is the locality with the largest area of durian trees in the province.

According to Dr. Tran Van Hau, lecturer at the Can Tho University, durian is considered the "king" of fruits, and that China is still the largest export market of Vietnamese durian, said Mr. Tran Thu Nam from Wanbang Vietnam Company.

After passion fruit, durian has become the second Vietnamese fruit to get permission to enter the Chinese market on official channels.

“The upcoming official export of Vietnamese durians is a very good move, making a great contribution to promoting the brand and enhancing the value of the Vietnamese durian in the Chinese market in particular and in international market in general", Mr. Nam shared.

Mr. Giang Gry Nie Knong, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, said that in recent years, durian cultivation has brought good incomes to local farmers.

Over the years, farmers in Dak Lak have gradually extended the cultivation area and produced sustainablely high-quality durian.

To fully tap foreign markets for durian exports, especially the Chinese market, Dak Lak is doing its utmost to promote the brand of the fruit, apply advanced technology in durian cultivation, and strictly comply with the protocol’s regulations.
