Addressing a launching ceremony in Melbourne (Victoria) on November 20, Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh noted Vietnam’s pangasius has long been popular in many demanding markets such as the United States, Europe and Japan. In Australia, he said the Vietnamese catfish products are also sold in most supermarkets and food stores across the country.

With Vietnam’s increasing seafood exports to Australia, the ambassador expressed his expectation that its pangasius products are favourites with local people.

The programme to promote Vietnams’ frozen pangasius fillets is being deployed in various Australian cities. As part of the programme, a pangasius expo will be held virtually in December, attracting nearly 100 enterprises involved in pangasius farming, processing and exporting in Vietnam.

The same day, Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh announced a plan to build a Vietnamese frozen passion fruit brand in Australia. He revealed that three tonnes of Vietnamese passion fruit, including frozen fruit and kernel, have been shipped to Australia, and the shipment is expected to arrive in the coming days.

This is the first time that Vietnamese frozen passion fruit has been exported to Australia.
