The paintings are works by the late Cuban painter René Mederos (1933-1996). He was assigned by the Cuban Government to go to Vietnam to adapt the Vietnam war into paintings.
René Mederos lived and worked with the Vietnamese armed forces and people along the Ho Chi Minh Trail from 1969 to 1972. The first exhibition of his artworks displayed 18 printed versions of his paintings and posters, created during his two visits to Vietnam.
Paitings by 5 Vietnamese contemporary artists are also on display at the exhibition.
