Hundred-year-old cinnamon forest in the middle of the Truong Son range conserved
PSNews – Hundreds of 150 – 170 year-old cinnamon trees in the middle of the Truong Son range have been conserved by ethnic minority groups in Quang Nam province.

Tra My cinnamon of Quang Nam province, known as the most favorite and valuable cinnamon in the world, has for a long time been a close friend of the local people.
There are hundreds of tall 150 – 170 year-old cinnamon trees in Tra Van commune, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province – in the middle of the Truong Son range.
Those Tra My cinnamon trees are considered historical witnesses of the Quang Nam land, and are strictly preserved by local people and police force.
Tra My cinnamon has a very high economic value, contributing to help local people reduce poverty.
Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Chairman of the Nam Tra My District People’s Committee told reporter of the Public Security Newspaper: “We has started a project to develop a specialized area to cultivate Tra My cinnamon trees in 2017-2020 period that covers 10 communes of the district, aiming to help the local cinnamon industry grow sustainably.”
In addition, Nam Tra My district has planned to buy 100 old trees from local people to preserve its special gene and use as a seedling source.
