The National Chèo Festival is a regular event held in every 3 years. It is considered as a professional playground for chèo troupes as well as chèo artists and musicians across Vietnam.
The National Chèo (traditional opera) Festival 2019, hosted by the Department of Performing Arts under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, the Bac Giang Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, takes place on September 14-28 in Bac Giang Province.
The festival also aims at discovering new innovations in this art work field, therefore providing suitable methods and solutions to develop this art form in localities.
This year’s festival has attracted 16 troupes with over 1,000 artists who will perform 26 plays.
The organizers encourage participating troupes to choose plays featuring the movement “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”, the Resolution of the forth Meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee on “Urgent Issues on Party Building”; and Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee on "Building Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.”
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will award Gold and Silver Medals to performances with high artistic quality and to excellent artists.
