The Nha Trang Observatory has become the first-ever astronomical observatory in Vietnam. The Nha Trang Astronomical Observatory has a planetarium dome covering a 343sqm floor.
The station is used to conduct basic research projects on optical astrophysics and disseminate cosmic knowledge to the community; teach and train human resources in astrophysics and the universe; and collaborate with foreign and Vietnamese organizations in scientific research and personnel training.
The observatory has a 0.5meter diameter astronomical telescope. This telescope is a reflective optical one made by Marcon, an Italian company renowned for astronomical equipment, which has a camera and a spectrum analyzer with high resolution in a wide wave range.
Recently, the Nha Trang astronomical observatory kicked off a new program to celebrate new year with many attractive activities such as manufacturing and launching water missiles, learning about astronomy, observing the sky via telescope.
A representative of the Nha Trang astronomical observatory said that: "The program aims to arouse interests of people, especially children, in discovering our vast universe. When children who are fond of astronomy visit our station, they can foster their dream of working in this scientific sector in the future".
