Thousands of visitors flock to Huong Pagoda Festival

Thousands of domestic and international pilgrims and tourists are visiting Huong Pagoda at the beginning of the Year of the Pig, wishing for peace, good weather, happiness and prosperity.

An estimated 50,000 pilgrims flocked to Huong or Perfume pagoda in Hanoi on February 10, the first day of the Vietnam’s longest festival. Huong Pagoda festival officially opened on the morning of February 10 and runs until the end of the third lunar month. |

The Perfume pagoda is a vast and striking complex of pagodas and Buddhist shrines built into the karst cliffs of Huong Tich Mountain (Mountain of the Fragrant Traces). The 3-month long Perfume pagoda festival drew 1,5 million visitors last year. |

This year, the festival is expected to welcome 1,5 million visitors. |

According to the management board of Huong Son relic site, Huong Pagoda recived about 124,000 visitors from the third to the fifth day of the lunar new year. |

This year, trading activities were no longer seen in pagodas in the Huong Pagoda Complex, carvens and narrow roads in the complex. Over 300 licensed stalls were arranged reasonably in order not to contribute to congestion. |

According to the festival's organizers, over 4,000 boats operated at their full capacity in Yen spring to meet suring travel demand. |
