Hanoi's traditional dragon boat race 2022 to kick off
PSNews - The Hanoi Municipal People's Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam Airlines on October 4 held a press conference to inform about the Hanoi's traditional dragon boat race 2022.
According to the Organizing Board, this-year event will be held on October 9. The opening ceremony will take place in the area of Ly Tu Trong Park, near West lake.
This event represents one of the activities to realize the cooperation agreement between Hanoi and Vietnam Airlines on the capital’s culture, sports and tourist development.
As reported, some 500 racers from 36 domestic and international teams will participate in Hanoi’s traditional dragon boat race. The festival will contribute to restoring and preserving traditional national sports such as dragon boat racing.
Pham Xuan Tai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Municipal Department of Culture and Sports shared that: "It will be an annual event promoting the city's culture and history. The event will also create a highlight to attract tourists to Hanoi and a playground for those who are passionate about sailing sports".
The first dragon boat race was organised on West Lake in 2018. The event gathered 27 teams from seven districts around the capital. Various art troupes also performed at the festival.
